Business students promote Fairtrade at Meeting House

Four Glamorgan business students held a lunch-time “try and buy” session to promote Fairtrade at the Meeting House on Tuesday, 31st January.

The many staff, students and people from the local community who called in were offered free samples of Fairtrade tea, coffee and biscuits. Also on offer were stalls with Fairtrade food, clothing, and crafts to browse or buy, and a Fairtrade film on display screens. There was a brief presentation by a specially-invited representative of Fairtrade Wales.

As well as being informative, it was a fun event with a festive atmosphere, a buzz of conversation, and students dressed as bananas walking around the campus to invite people in. There was a quiz, and a prize draw for a hamper of Fairtrade goods.
The event was organised by a group of students from the Faculty of Business and Society – Yuanna Hong, Zhe Wu, Hao Shen and Arwa Al-Twal – in partnership with the Chaplaincy.
The University of Glamorgan has been a Fairtrade University since 2007.
