The Chaplaincy participates with the Department of Care Sciences in Healthcare Christian Fellowship’s Seven Years of Prayer for healthcare throughout the world.
We have special prayers on the first Wednesday of each month. This month we are praying for:
o All students and staff in the Department of Care Sciences, especially any who are in particular need or trouble
o this month’s hospitals: Royal Glamorgan, Llwynypia, Dewi Sant; Chaplains in the Cwm Taf Health Board
o health care in Asia: Christian-Muslim relations in Malaysia; the 203 Field Hospital Squadron in Afghanistan (which serves local people as well as the military)
o the situation in Haiti, especially those caring for the sick and injured
Healthcare Christian Fellowship asks our prayers for Dr Thomasu Odejide at Living Hope Hospital in Nigeria, who will be involved in training of unskilled birth attendants on 9th and 10th February; a meeting on community prevention of maternal mortality on the 11th; a free healthcare mission on the 19th and 20th; and his own ordination as a pastor on the 18th
They also ask our prayers for the setting up of the Welsh Christian Health Forum
Here is a prayer we use that applies especially to healthcare workers, but is apt for us all:
the care of every soul is in your hands,
the cure of every sickness comes from you.
We do not know your will for us.
If by our lives your grace may be made known,
then in us, through us, or even in spite of us,
your kingdom come, your will be done. Amen.
