February 25th – 9th March is Fairtrade Fortnight in 2008
The chances are you’ll see posters about the events everywhere, including catering outlets and the Students’ Union. We thought we’d give you a heads up on the early, so you don’t miss out. There are a large number of events and promotions happening, here is an overview:
For the whole of Fairtrade Fortnight the Students’ Union are running a Fairtrade tea/Coffee+biscuits promo
If you enjoy dunking a biscuit, or if you like a bargain then go to Butties or Smiths during Fairtrade Fortnight and you can relax with a Fairtrade tea or coffee and a biscuit for only 50p! They only question is… do you want sugar or are you sweet enough? Promo runs while stocks last.
Fairtrade Loyalty Cards and coffee freebies
Pop into The Gallery’s, Bites or The Courtyard and you can get a Fairtrade Coffee Loyalty card. Each time you buy a cup get a stamp and once the card is full then you can use it to get a free coffee in the participating outlet. The Gallery’s, Bites and The Courtyard are also going to be giving away free sachets of Fairtrade coffee for you to take home and try, you can get one (while stocks last) from the till when purchasing a hot drink.
Sun 2nd March Quiz night
The normal Students’ Union quiz night has been turned into a Fairtrade quiz during Fairtrade Fortnight (25th Feb-9th Mar). Come with a team and have a go at the quiz, hopefully it won’t be too tough. There are definitely some great prizes, it’s your typical Union quiz night.
Thurs 6th March – Loyalty Card Promo shoot
At 1.30pm in the Gallery’s food court there will be a short photo shoot to mark the new coffee loyalty scheme. If you are around or if you want to come to the Gallery’s we’d love a few students to be in some of the photos. Come along and smile for the camera!
Thurs 6th March – Fairtrade Fashion Show
Come and see people from the sports societies modelling Fairtrade clothing from several local suppliers, there will be chance to order some of the clothing modelled. It’ll be a great laugh, plus there’s a disco followed by the final of Glamorgan’s Got Talent.
