Christian Approaches to Living with Difference

Our theme for Wednesday 31st October is Christian Approaches to Living with Difference.

We say we live today in a plural society multi-racial, multi-cultural, multi-faith etc. But all societies that have made any history have been plural. If we were all the same, there would be no history and no progress.

How do we live with this in practice? Is toleration as easy as it sounds? Or is today’s toleration, equality etc. just a cover for a new secular orthodoxy everyone has to fit into whether they like it or not?

And what happens when we have fundamental disagreements about religion? Is it true that all roads lead to God Is there some deeper principle that goes beyond all religious differences? Are there elements within even the most exclusive faith that can motivate us to treat other faiths with respect?

A lot of questions! Come and talk about them, maybe ask more, and maybe even find the hint of an answer!
